Fareedat Folunsho, 19, was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana between 50 and 100 pounds, the Suffolk County District Attorney said. She is being held on $1,500 bail.
Police were called to the Boston Logan Airport after agents found the drugs in her bags around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 12.
While marijuana possession is legal in Massachusetts, users are only allowed to have an ounce on them or up to 10 ounces in their homes. Folunsho was over by just 1,119 ounces.
There is a thriving market for marijuana in London, where a pound can fetch up to $5,000, making Folunsho's haul worth an estimated $350,000, authorities said.
In March, 28-year-old Nalexus Palmer was arrested after customs agents found nearly 75 pounds of the drug in vacuum-sealed bags in her luggage, authorities said. She had already flown from Detroit to Boston with the weed, but the marijuana wasn't detected until she attempted to make her connecting flight to London.
The Michigan woman told police a man she'd met in Atlanta organized the trip, and she was given the bags without knowing what was in them, authorities said.
Palmer was charged with trafficking marijuana between 50 and 100 pounds and was ordered held on a $3,000 bail, the prosecutor said.
